💥 Why Car Washes Can Damage Your Car

🤷‍♀️ The problem: all of the other cars and the stuff that clung to them from driving around all day. If the car before yours went on a dirt road, it would pull into the carwash just covered in mud, sand, small bits of rock including granite, which is extremely hard and abrasive.

👉 That grit tends to stick onto the cleaning apparatus/brushes of the carwash, which after a while can start to almost be like sandpaper. “Some of those car washes, seriously, I’ve seen them where the brushes are gray to brown with dirt.”

With the high speed of the cleaning machines and the high pressure of the water, all that dirt and grit is rubbed along the surface of your car on its way off the body. And with it, swirls and scratches are normal consequences. In the worst case can come a little bit of your paint. (which is already happening due to the repetitive friction)

Eventually, your car could end up with what’s called a “spiderweb scratch,” which basically looks how it sounds.

My favorite: Swirl Killer - DA Polisher

💎 It will add years to the paint.

Scratches and oxidation leave the clear coat exposed. Over time, water, chemicals, dirt, and pollutants collect in these cuts and scrapes, further eating away at the paint. Ultimately, this can cause corrosion and rust, a costly problem to reverse. A professional paint correction process removes these small scratches and protects them. ⠀

💎 A major benefit of any polish or paint correction service is the shine. Paint correction restores the clear coat. When buffed, the shiny, wet appearance will return to the paint. Your car will look years younger and the paint will look newer, brighter, and more vibrant. 😊👌 ■ How Does My Paint Correction work?

🔥 Paint correction starts with high-pressure spray, foam car soap wash, and Clay Bar Treatment. This removes the fine dirt, grime, and pollutants from the vehicle’s paint.

Next, a cutting compound is applied to the exterior of the vehicle with a DA polishing machine. ⠀

🔥 Cutting compounds are gritty and they even the clear coat, helping to remove damaged paint, scuff marks, or surface scratches in the clear coat. Oxidation, for example, typically occurs in the outermost layers of the clear coat. Cutting the paint removes these layers that have been damaged. ⠀

💎👌 Once the damage has been removed, the new surface is buffed, and a coat of sealant is applied. This ensures the paint is protected, but also creates a wet, sleek-looking shine.

🔰 Ceramic Coating

Primarily composed of silica and titanium dioxide, these two substances together form a covalent bond that is hydrophobic in nature and forms a nano-ceramic shield above the vehicle’s clear coat.

Durability: up to 2 years Shine type: Deep wet, High Reflection

🔰 Wax

Car wax or automotive wax is a natural or synthetic product that is designed to provide a thin layer of protection on the body of a vehicle. The majority of car waxes on the market today are comprised of a blend of carnauba wax mixed with natural oils, beeswax, and petroleum distillates.

Durability: 1 - 3 months (if garage kept) Shine type: Glossy

🔰 Ceramic protectants (coatings) provide much higher durability/shield qualities than WAX.

They resist heat, UV rays, environmental contaminants & harsh detergents much better than wax. Wax on the other hand simply sits on top of the paint's surface. It does not create the chemical bond we find with ceramic coatings.
